About us

The Church

CBC was founded by John and Michele Morgan, church-planting missionaries with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE). From its humble beginnings as a Bible study in the Morgan’s home, the church was officially organized as a mission church in 2000 as Northeast Community Baptist Church. As the church continued to grow, it became necessary to find larger accommodations. The church now meets in the gymnasium at Cornerstone Academy.

Church PropertyA couple of years ago, the Lord made it possible for the church to purchase a five-acre property on Central College Road, where we hope one day to build a permanent facility. This is a prime location that is surrounded by several new housing developments. In January 2007, Pastor Morgan announced that the Lord was leading Michele and him to an exciting new ministry with ABWE and the church called Pastor Sean to lead the church in its next phase of development. On June 10, 2007 the church celebrated its “graduation” to self-sufficient status and the name was changed to Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Our Pastor

Sean and Kathee IngramPastor Sean Ingram received Christ as his savior at the age of 12 out of a home that did not practice strong Christian values. Like many people, his growth as a committed follower of Jesus Christ was stunted by "the cares of this world" (Matt. 13:22) and a lack of godly discipleship. The turning point came at the birth of his first son with the realization that true "success" in life can only be achieved by faithfully following the Lord's design for man. After several years of successful volunteer ministry, he answered God's call to pursue full-time vocational ministry in 1999. Pastor Sean first came to CBC as a pastoral intern from Baptist Bible Seminary of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania in the summer of 2006. He completed the internship in May of 2007 and graduated from BBS with his Master of Divinity degree. His wife, Kathee, is also a graduate of Baptist Bible College with a Baccalaureate of Science in Bible. They have three children: Nathan, Bethany, and Lucas.

The Morgans

The Morgan’s began their career in medical missions as registered nurses on the field of Togo, West Africa. There they served in the Hopital Baptiste Biblique, a mission hospital of the ABWE, established to meet the health care and spiritual needs of the Togolese. John served as the Operating Room Supervisor and as the Administrator of the hospital, while Michele served as a Clinic Staff Nurse. Along with providing for the physical well-being of the local population, John and Michele also worked as church planters, helping to establish the Eglise Baptiste Biblique de Kpele Tsiko. Michele also served as a teacher for the children of fellow missionaries. After two terms overseas, God led them back to the states to serve as North American church planters. Today, they continue to serve the cause of international missions through ABWE. The Morgans have three adult children: Sean, Jason, and Danielle; and two more by marriage: Jason's wife Sara, and Danielle's husband Stephen.

Cornerstone Baptist Church is proud to be affiliated with the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches.
