Our true sinful nature is evident in comparison to a perfect and just God. And our best efforts aren't enough to overcome the consequence of our sin.

We are each responsible for the sins we commit, and there is a consequence for these offenses against a thoroughly holy and pure Being. That consequence is death, both spiritual and physical; an eternal separation from God.
